How does your organization make Billund alive as the Capital of Children – where children learn through play and become creative citizens of the world?
CoC Playful Minds delivers state-of-the-art knowledge, methods and practices on co-creation with children. CoC Playful Minds is a development organization that, together with children and experts from around the world, is at the heart of knowledge, methods and practices for equal co-creation with children. In our three programmes, children co-create products for children, new learning styles and urban spaces in children's height. This is how we help Billund become the Capital of Children. Our World Academy is one of CoC Playful Minds' offers.
Our World Academy is a philosophical-dialogue-based approach to informal educational practice, based on playful, experimental and co-creative didactics and pedagogy. In Our World Academy, children help to test, create and describe ideal frameworks to promote all children's opportunities to be co-creators of their own lives, and as a basis for children's engagement as creative world citizens.
What’s in it especially for children?
The children themselves say that the opportunities through Our World Academy are great for them as it supports their creativity, imagination and give them a community and a platform where they get the opportunity to engage and interact with the world they are a part of. "I believe that through these processes we become creative, positive, constructive citizens of the world."
How do you think it links to the vision of Capital of Children?
In CoC Playful Minds' Our World Academy, children are practicing their creative world citizenship in practice. Through the course, the children learn to relate on themselves, on each other and the world - as well as think and act critically and creatively. It is a great basis for being a creative citizen of the world and engaging with it. At Our World Academy we show children and young people how world goals can become everyday goals. For example, how their actions and ideas can help mitigate climate change or other challenges that Billund and the rest of the world is facing" Cecilie Tang-Brock, Program Manager at CoC Playful Minds, explains.
